Today I'm remembering Pebbles LaDime "Dime" Doe.

A Black trans woman killed for showing up as her true authentic self. She was only 24 years old.

Her case was the first federal trial for a hate crime based on the victim's gender identity.

Hey. Hey. Look at me. Eyes here, I need to tell you something important.

Anyone who tries to sell you on that "LGB without the T" bullshit is a fucking sell-out who wants to sacrifice a marginalized community to beg for scraps of approval from bigots who hate anyone who isn't straight only slightly less than they hate anyone who isn't cis. Anyone who tries to sell you on it is pretending that conservatives won't just shift targets to target the gay community after they've destroyed enough trans people.

Martin Niemöller did not write "First They Came..." just for fascists to pull the exact same "one community at a time" bullshit decades later.

Support and protect trans people. Community and solidarity is necessary. Anyone trying to convince you abandon another marginalized group, especially anyone who tries to turn you against that group, is a tool of bigots.

I did an illustration for Trans Day of Remembrance today at work.

Our little community contains so much anger and grief, but it's because we love each other so fiercely. We remember our dead because their memory keeps us stubborn.

I love all of us today, and I hope you do too.

I know I'm late and Trans Day of Remembrance is over, but I want to recognize the trans people who have died of covid, are currently dying, or living with long covid hoping it doesn't kill them. The world has failed to save those who did not have be be lost, and unfortunately this is not a random event but a deliberate attempt at exterminating trans community (among many others). It's so disheartening but i urge everyone to remember those we've lost and to support those that are still here by doing what you must. Keep caring, keep masking, staying home, staying educated, and doing all the other necessary acts of care and caution in these pandemic times.

I can't believe we're actually having the fucking bathroom debate again

for literally the past ten years I avoided using public bathrooms in general. every time I'm forced to use them I fear for my life that I'll be harassed, threatened, attacked, raped, or killed for no other reason than someone doesn't like that I exist in proximity to them.

obviously this isn't the biggest issue in the world that I can't use public restrooms. I've lived like this for ten years, I don't care if I have to pee at home for the rest of my life.

the real issues trans women face are far greater than bathroom or sports.

homelessness for trans women is at an all time high. we are on average paid less than cis women and other queer people. I'm not even going to explain what v-coding is because it's too horrific to even mention. not to mention that access to medication and therapy is often barred for us, and getting the treatment we need is often impossible for many of us

how many more of us have to die before we finally get the respect we deserve?

how many more of us have to starve to death on the side of the road, cold, homeless, turned away by shelters?

how many more of us will end up taking their own lives because they couldn't access the support they needed to live?

how many more of us will be assaulted, raped, and murdered, only for their obituary to use the wrong name, and for people to blame us for being victims?

I'm tired of being a topic of debate! I'm a human fucking being, god dammit! I demand to be treated like one!

A day late cuz I was traveling, but never forgotten 💔

🦎I don't know if we'll ever post this, or if it will stay in drafts forever. Fuck it, it's trans day of remembrance.

But yes, we do. We dated a wonderful Aussy girl, Anne. When her family disowned her, she had college and HRT and some girlfriends and nothing else. Then she had dropped out, so just a job and HRT and girlfriends. Then she lost the job and god damn it but she got alcohol in return.

And at that point it felt hopeless, as a girlfriend. She wouldn't take any advice, sought no further help. Nothing cheered her up, nothing got her off the bottle. The girlfriends left over months, and we did too. The day her last roommate moved out was the last day of her life.

And her family pasted over everything. Her facebook memorial page is half screaming at the "people who did this to her" and half vapid attempts to prove her "boyhood". They barred her friends from attending the funeral.

Nothing to do but live on and fight for better for the next Anne.

do you ever think about all the girls who's corpses are placed beside portraits of dissociated, dead eyed boys? do you think of all the girls who had their hair cropped short and their bodies stuffed into ill fitting old suits before being put in their caskets? do you ever think of all the parents crying over dead boys they made up in their heads because they were too proud to love their daughters? do you ever think of all the girls being mourned in whispers to keep from offending those same parents? do you ever think of all the girls who are killed a second time, their memory sacrificed in service of a convenient fiction of an inexplicably sad boy who took his own life for no real reason?

I may as well toss my info on here again. I'm Kate/Kit and I'm a trans woman. I haven't had a car since June so on the days I work I have to ride my bike 5 miles to and from work. Haven't been able to get a second job despite putting in over 100 applications over the last 6 months. Anything helps to keep my bike in working condition and food in my stomach.
